The 2022 NCAA Mens College World Series was the final stage of the 2022 NCAA Division I baseball tournament.
WEB Oklahoma opened up the 2022 Mens College World Series with a bang and a 13-8 win over No. 13 Texas A&M. The Sooners put up eight runs in the first inning, including a grand slam by first baseman Tyler Hardman. The Aggies cut the lead to 8-3 in the top of the second, but Oklahoma added two more in the bottom half of the inning and never looked back.
It was a rematch of the 2021 College World Series championship game, which Oklahoma won 5-1. The Aggies were looking for revenge, but the Sooners were just too much for them in this one. Oklahoma starting pitcher Cade Cavalli was dominant, striking out 12 batters in 6 2/3 innings of work. He allowed just three runs on six hits.
The Sooners will now advance to the winner's bracket, where they will face the winner of the game between No. 4 Stanford and No. 5 Arizona. Texas A&M will drop down to the loser's bracket, where they will play the loser of the Stanford-Arizona game.
