Jayson Tatum Explodes, Celtics Steal Game 1 in OT
Jayson Tatum exploded for 36 points, Jaylen Brown hit a clutch 3-pointer to force overtime, and the Boston Celtics edged the Indiana Pacers 133-128 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Tuesday night.
The Celtics, who trailed by 12 points in the fourth quarter, rallied back to tie the game at 115-115 on Brown's 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds remaining in regulation. In overtime, the Celtics took control and pulled away for the win.
Tatum was unstoppable all night, shooting 14-of-26 from the field and hitting 5-of-11 from 3-point range. Brown finished with 28 points, while Marcus Smart added 24 points and 12 assists.
The Pacers were led by Benedict Mathurin, who had 25 points. Tyrese Haliburton missed the game with a left knee injury.
Game 2 of the series will be played in Indianapolis on Thursday night.
